2010 Homecoming Parade Registration
Parade: Friday, October 22, 2010
Theme: Illinois Homecoming 2010


Please read carefully and sign at the bottom that you have read the rules and regulations.

Please submit your float entries by OCTOBER 14th. For more information, please contact Jillian Kachel at Fraternity and Sorority Affairs (217) 333-7062.

Everyone must fill out the online application: walkers/floats/decorated vehicle/etc. If your organization is walking in the parade, disregard any of the fields that pertain to vehicles/floats/etc.

A. Size Regulations

1. Width: 11-ft. maximum
2. Height: 12-ft. maximum
3. Length: Any length acceptable
4. Absolutely no tandem

B. Building Materials

1. Floats must be made of fireproof materials only.
2. Materials must be able to pass a standard match test the day of the parade.
3. Only flame-retardant paints allowed.
4. No open flames, candles, flashpots, etc. allowed on the floats.
5. Decorations such as pomps can be purchased at Dallas and Co., located at 101 E. University Ave. in Champaign. One package of pomps costs $1.99 and includes 300 pieces of paper, enough to cover 4 square feet.

C. All floats must be self-supporting and well-constructed.
D. Decorations cannot obstruct vehicle doors, windows or exhaust pipes.
E. Floats must be able to move at parade speed (approximately 5 mph) and able to move faster in case of emergency.
F. Drivers and those riding on the float must have immediate access to exit in case of emergency.
G. One multipurpose dry chemical fire extinguisher with a U.L. rating of 2A:10B:C and one flashlight (2 D batteries or bigger) must accompany each float.
H. Four people must walk with each float/vehicle and be able to quickly remove it in case its original power source fails.
I. The rear of all floats must be lit with permanently installed tail and brake lights or with tail and brake lights such as are temporarily installed and used for trailers traveling on highways. (there will be no police escorts after the parade)
J. No floats are to be built on University property without prior permission.
K. There is no monetary limit.
L. Your organization is solely responsible for the float and vehicle, so please be careful.
M. If you wish to give out candy, it may be distributed only by the four or more walkers on either side of the float or vehicle.
N. People walking and/or standing on the float are considered part of the parade entry.
